Summary: | In the beginning of the 1980s investigations were performed in the NW Pacific Ocean to estimate the distribution of 137Cs concentrations in the water column down to depths of 2000 m. For determination of 137Cs, pre-concentration was necessary and the sorbent ANFEZH was used. Its high sorption efficiency (95-98%) and good kinetic characteristics at the water flow rate, 100 ml.min-1 per cm2 of the column sections, with ease of operation have made this sorbent indispensable for work in marine expedition conditions. In the following years ANFEZH was widely used for 137Cs determination in various natural waters (sea water, fresh, thermal, artesian) in Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union, especially after the Chernobyl accident. |
