Summary: | Results of performance on five psychomotor tests from six studies conducted on dental professionals were pooled to make a study population of 230. All subjects had urinary mercury levels of 55 mu g/l or less. Results showed that the relative level of urinary mercury affected psychomotor test performance. The test that had the greatest association was the Intentional Hand Steadiness Test. The significance of this result for these professionals who have occupational exposure to mercury, and who generally have superior manual dexterity is discussed. |
