Description
Summary:In this study, we presented a pilot study of metronomic photodynamic therapy (mPDT) by the use of organic light emitting diode (OLED) in treating treatment of brain tumor. The low cost, lightweight, and low fluence rate OLED has significant potential in the clinical mPDT applications. In this study, we treated nude mice with glioblastma by 5ā€aminolevulinic acid (ALA) mediated OLED, mPDT. Afterwards, we investigated the tumor severity though bioluminescenct imaging and recorded survival days. Compared to control group (ALA treatment without illumination), PDT group mice showed increased survival days. This pilot study suggests that OLED is a useful light source for mPDT.
