Description
Summary:Since atrazine is one of the more persistent herbicides, Agriculture Canada has a program to monitor atrazine residues in cornmeal to ensure that atrazine is used properly and that there are no residues in corns for food and livestock feed. The conventional residue analysis, using gas chromatography or high performance liquid chromatography, is time consuming and expensive due to the long cleanup procedure and the sophisticated analytical instruments required. In contrast, enzyme immunoassays are quick and simple to perform, and allow a large number of samples to be measured simultaneously.
