Summary:Conclusions Our data suggest that acute exposure of HASM or HBEC to CSE, at either high or low doses does not significantly alter RGS2 expression, in contrast with chronic low dose exposure in HASM. Since RGS2 regulates airway hyperresponsiveness and controls many important epithelial and smooth muscle cell functions, further study on the effects of cigarette smoke and/or nicotine on airway RGS2 expression and function are warranted.
