Summary:Here I offer my insights into the workings of the government, with a view to sharing experiences that might hold meaning for other countries and governments in Pakistan. With the executive branch of the state and the parliamentary system of government as a context, the frame of reference here is government ministries. I will outline four points about the government's core so-called business and its institutions and instruments of governance, the modalities of policy making, human resource considerations, and key governance attributes.
