Summary:A method for calculation of 2D radar images of template objects based on aperture synthesis and application of known rigorous solutions to diffraction problems is proposed. All parameters of the algorithm for the synthesis of 2D radar images from the spatial-frequency data are determined. An expression relating the given frequency tuning band of the probing signal and the width of the interval of synthesis angles implementing the achievable resolution is obtained. Two-dimensional radar images of a sphere and a disk with different wave dimensions are calculated for the case of backward reflection.
