Description
Summary:Radiation-induced graft copolymerization of acrylamide/N,N-(dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate (AAm/DMAEMA) onto low density polyethylene films was carried out. The effect of grafting conditions such as solvent type and comonomer composition were studied. Characterization of the prepared films was investigated by Fourier transform infrared. Some selected properties such as thermal stability and swelling behavior were determined. It was found that grafting efficiency, swelling behavior and thermal stability increased with increasing DMAEMA content. Scanning electron microscopy was used for predicting the change in surface morphology via the grafted films. The improvement in properties of the prepared films make it possible to use them in some practical applications.
