Description
Summary:Two mechanical drafting devices have been developed for drafting and aligning fibers in a strip of card web for the purpose of producing filament-wrapped yarns. Both devices, one an apron drafter, and the other a roller drafter, are fully described in this report. Yarns ranging from 25 to 48 tex were made at production rates ranging from 21 to 48 m/min. Yarns produced from the two drafters were compared and analyzed. The apron drafter made yarns with higher strength, elongation, and better uniformity and appearance than the roller drafter.
