The Mechanics of Snagging in Plain-Knitted Structures

Geometry of a model knitted fabric and conditions for preventing its snagging by conical asperities are discussed. . The mechanisms of snag propagation are outlined and the effect of yarn and fabric properties on such mechanisms is analyzed.
