Summary:Compared with other natural cellulose fibers, ramie's handle is harsh and rigid and its elastic recovery is poor. Ramie's undesirable properties affect its performance and comfort during wear. A considerable amount of work has been done at our Institute to ameliorate the undesirable properties of ramie and ramie-blended products by mod ifying the chemical structure and surface properties.
