Summary: | Pharmaceutical industries demand stringent quality inspection and verification during product manufacturing and packaging processes to meet the ever-increasing industry regulations. Traditionally, human visual inspection was employed to deliver a comprehensive and cost-effective solution. In this paper, an image processing technique (using OpenCV2.0) and its hardware implementation has been proposed, to overcome the shortcomings of the traditional method, as it proves to be rapid, consistent, accurate and time conserving. Here, transparent vials containing transparent parenteral solutions are inspected. The vials are checked for the presence of flip off cap, crimping defects in aluminium seal and the volume of the solution. This system proves to be 96 % accurate. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT] |
