Summary:Two bifunctional supramolecular systems [RuNO(NH sub(3)) sub(4)OH] super(2+) super(.)[RuNO(NH sub(3)) sub(4)H sub(2O]) super(3)+ super(.Gd) super( )3+(H sub(2O)) sub(6) super(.2[TCAS]) super(4)- super(.4H) sub(2)O (1) and [RuNO(NH sub(3)) sub(4)OH] super(2+) super(.)[RuNO(NH sub(3)) sub(4)H sub(2O]) super(3)+ super(.Dy) super( )3+(H sub(2O)) sub(6) super(.2[TCAS]) super(4)- super(.4H) sub(2)O (2) on the platform of p-sulfonatothiacalix[4]arene containing photochromic mononitrosyl Ru and paramagnetic rare-earth (Gd super(3+, Dy) super(3)+) cations have been synthesized. The crystal structures of 1 and 2 are discussed. Their photochromic, magnetic and photomagnetic properties studied by IR and SQUID experimental techniques are presented
