Summary: | The stress relaxation behavior of post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) F82H was examined to determine the appropriate PWHT condition for electron beam welded joints between the first and side walls of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) test blanket module. Thermal elastic–plastic creep finite element analyses were conducted assuming Norton creep law. Uniform heat treatment and four types of local heating near the weld line were studied. Numerical analyses concluded that the welding residual stress could be reduced by a local heat treatment near the penetration from both the first and side walls, where the cooling area and rate could be controlled. In addition, the stress on the channel surface in the first wall was found to decrease to less than 50MPa with the appropriate local PWHT. |
