Facile and shape-controlled growth of the wurtzite ZnS:Ni super(2+) nanoparticles and nanowires

In this paper, the wurtzite-type ZnS:Ni super(2+) (3%) nanoparticles (NPs) and nanowires (NWs) were prepared by a simple hydrothermal method only by changing the ratio of ethylenediamine (EN) to water (W). The sample prepared in water yielded NPs with diameters of 19-38 nm. The sample prepared in EN...

Description
Summary:In this paper, the wurtzite-type ZnS:Ni super(2+) (3%) nanoparticles (NPs) and nanowires (NWs) were prepared by a simple hydrothermal method only by changing the ratio of ethylenediamine (EN) to water (W). The sample prepared in water yielded NPs with diameters of 19-38 nm. The sample prepared in EN and W yielded NWs with the average diameter of 7.8 nm. The results showed that the Ni super(2+) ions were incorporated into the ZnS lattice. The Ni super(2+)-related emission peak centered at 484 nm was obtained, and the photoluminescence intensity of the NWs was higher than that of the NPs.
