Summary: | Nomenclature in this paper follows the Census catalogue of the flora of Ireland, 2nd edition (Scannell and Synnott 1987). In Ireland Carex divisa was first discovered in 1866 "the marshes of the North Strand" Dublin City. Noted in "some plenty" at first it was soon reported "nearly extinct" (Colgan and Scully 1898) though found in the 1870s in another location (Colgan 1904) on the north side of the Liffey at the East Wall of Dublin Port where it was recorded at least into the 1890s. In Co Wexford (H12) it was found in 1893. A number of further sites, all in Co Wexford, were clearly recorded soon after (Barrett-Hamilton and Glascott 1889). |
