Description
Summary:Given the increasing awareness of their influence to material properties, polycrystalline triple junctions are becoming a focal point of substantial research. Despite increasing interest in triple junctions, there is a deficiency in experimental methods for fully characterizing junctions on a large scale. This work provides the necessary foundation for experimentally generating fully characterized twin-dependent triple junction distributions from a section plane. This paper establishes the necessary parameters, space, and conventions of twin-dependent triple junction distributions. A simulated twin-dependent triple junction distribution is developed within a single fundamental zone within the distribution space using discrete equal and non-equal volume cells. A novel method of plotting distribution values and a technique for correcting inherent distribution sampling biases are presented. This work not only establishes necessary foundational work but also prepares the way for a non-twin-dependent approach in the future.
