Large size and high T sub(c), J sub(c) SmBCO bulk superconductor with addition of Sm242 particles grown in air

In this work, we reported that a large size SmBCO, 32 mm in diameter, was successfully grown in air by the cold-seeding method. During the preparation, a Ba-rich Sm sub(2)Ba sub(4)Cu sub(2)O sub(y) (Sm242) was employed to refine T sub(c), while a nano-sized Sm sub(2)Ba sub(4)CuBiO sub(z) (Sm2411) ph...

Description
Summary:In this work, we reported that a large size SmBCO, 32 mm in diameter, was successfully grown in air by the cold-seeding method. During the preparation, a Ba-rich Sm sub(2)Ba sub(4)Cu sub(2)O sub(y) (Sm242) was employed to refine T sub(c), while a nano-sized Sm sub(2)Ba sub(4)CuBiO sub(z) (Sm2411) phase was introduced to reinforce J sub(c). In addition, an NdBCO thin film seed was used to guarantee that a high maximum processing temperature (T sub(max)) could be adopted for the growth of large sized bulk.
