Summary:Atmospheric electrolyte cathode glow discharge system as an emerging testing tool has attracted more and more attention in atomic spectrum analysis in recent ten years. Atmospheric electrolyte cathode glow discharge emission spectrometer technique has the advantages of the stability in spectrum measurement, selectiveness in element analysis and convenience and simpleness in sensor measurement. This paper reviewed the principle and characteristic mechanism, the research progress, evolution and the application of technique. We summarize the advantages and problems of the technique and predict the application outlook in the end.
