Description
Summary:A new constitutive model to describe twin nucleation, propagation and growth for magnesium crystals is developed and implemented in the recently developed Elastic Viscoplastic Self-Consistent polycrystal model. The new model explicitly takes into account the stress relaxation associated with twin nucleation. It is demonstrated that the new twinning model is able to capture key macroscopic features associated with twin nucleation, propagation and growth observed experimentally.
