Description
Summary:A recently-developed mechanized method for aluminium speciation in natural waters was compared with a standard manual method using both model ligands and natural waters. The advantages of the mechanized method, a flow injection analysis technique, with respect to sample consumption and speed of analysis, were also used to study initial storage effects. The two methods agreed closely for measurements on synthetic solutions containing aluminium and isolated humic substances and fairly closely for samples from soil leaching experiments and from natural water samples. The principal advantages of the mechanized method were short reaction times, simplicity, low sample consumption and the ability to determine quickly-reacting aluminium with a single measurement.
