Summary: | Although > 50 genetically determined immunodeficiency syndromes have been reported over the past decades, defects in immunity due to CD4 super(+) T lymphocytopenia were considered rare until the discovery of AIDS. Recently, 47 patients were identified as having idiopathic CD4 super(+) T lymphocytopenia with susceptibility to opportunistic infections. We studied a young woman with an AIDS-like syndrome who had several opportunistic infections in combination with a persistent CD8 super(+) T lymphocytopenia and recurrent CD4 super(+) T lymphocytopenia. |
