Summary: | Like most academic libraries, the Riley State University (RSU) Library planned to follow Library of Congress' lead and adopt RDA cataloging as standard practice for new cataloging at the end of the month, too. RSU was not a big research institution, but the library held a number of well-used special collections, several containing many unique items, and so the cataloging unit included two full-time librarians in addition to Nathan. These librarians devoted their time principally to original cataloging, leaving the copy cataloging to two paraprofessionals. The department also employed student assistants. Here, McCourry talks about Nathan Beamer, head of cataloging for the RSU library. |
