Description
Summary:Endogenous and exogenous hormonal environments change in women of the reproductive age group, affecting the type, frequency, and severity of disabling migraine attacks compared with men of the same age.9 Headaches also can be caused by changes in intracranial pressure and by meningeal irritation due to infections.3,5 Ion imbalance and pressure effects of intracranial bleeding or a tumor mass may also play a role.5,10 These conditions can present with or without focal neurologic deficits. According to 75% of published cases regarding chronic NTH, they usually present for longer than 3 months, with varying degrees of intensity.10 Chronic headaches may impede the quality of life for the patient and should be treated adequately.
