Summary: | NaLa(1-y)(MoO4)(2-x)(WO4)x:yEu3+ series of red-emitting phosphors were synthesised by a combustion route and their crystal structure, optical and luminescent properties were investigated. Their emission spectra showed an intense red emission at 616 nm due to the 5D0 to 7F2 transition of Eu3+. As the tungstate content increased, the intensity of the 5D0 to 7F2 emission of Eu3+ activated at a wavelength of 467 nm increased and reached a maximum when the relative ratio of Mo/W was 1:1. The effect of Eu3+ concentration on the luminescence behaviour of the solid solutions was also examined. The optical properties of NaLa0.9Eu0.1(MoO4)(WO4) phosphors make them attractive for application in white light emitting diodes (LEDs), in particular for near-UV InGaN-based white-LEDs. |
