Summary: | The objective of the present paper was to clarify the inconsistencies on parameters of two formerly developed resuspension models for Lake Balaton. With the aid of a new scale analysis based on the Richardson law it was demonstrated that the settling velocity of the resuspended sediment particles is primarily dependent on the hydrodynamic conditions and the water content of the sediment. On the other hand the particle size distribution of the bottom sediment does not play a significant role in influencing the settling velocity. |
