Interactions between Two Poeciliid Fishes (Gambusia holbrooki and Heterandria formosa) and Their Prey in a Florida Marsh
In this study, we determine (1) the effect of G. holbrooki on H. formosa, (2) the effect of H. formosa on G. holbrooki, and (3) the influence of these fish alone and in combination on the invertebrate prey assemblage. To experiment was conducted in a marsh that is part of a humanmade impoundment in...

Summary: | In this study, we determine (1) the effect of G. holbrooki on H. formosa, (2) the effect of H. formosa on G. holbrooki, and (3) the influence of these fish alone and in combination on the invertebrate prey assemblage. To experiment was conducted in a marsh that is part of a humanmade impoundment in Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge near Deleon Springs, Florida. This marsh is near the center of the St. Johns River basin. Thick emergent and submergent vegetation grows in much of the marsh. |
