Summary: | The convergence of an overall increase in pediatric behavioral health referrals, military specific factors, economic pressures, and training needs prompted the Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) CAP C-L team to consider ways in which it could enhance and improve training and services to effectively address these multiple demands. [...]the study identified that if graduates had no training in a specific area, then they rated that area of psychiatry as less relevant to their current work. The team provides inpatient consultation services to the pediatric intensive care, general pediatric, and family medicine teams, as well as evaluation and treatment of “boarders” and outpatient referrals for “as soon as possible” appointments (ASAPs), which consist of children with urgent psychiatric issues.
