The Use of Simulated or Concentrated Natural Solar Radiation for the TiO sub(2)-Mediated Photodecomposition of Basagran, Diquat, and Diuron
Suspensions of TiO sub(2) were illuminated with simulated or concentrated solar radiation to mineralize solutions of the herbicides Basagran, Diquat, and Diuron. Summary: | Suspensions of TiO sub(2) were illuminated with simulated or concentrated solar radiation to mineralize solutions of the herbicides Basagran, Diquat, and Diuron. The design of a functional recirculating system is reported. Decomposition rates were significantly increased when concentrated solar radiation was used. Decomposition rates also depend on the compound studied. The study demonstrates the possibility of using high intensity concentrated solar radiation for the TiO sub(2)-mediated photocatalytic decomposition of water-borne organic wastes. |
