Summary: | Research on hydropower negotiation provided scope to gain insight into key competencies needed for negotiators to overcome obstacles and identify opportunities during lengthy multi-party natural resource negotiations. Interviews were conducted with 68 government agency negotiation participants, who were asked to cite qualities of a good negotiator in natural resource disputes. The core competencies were categorized into three dimensions of negotiation: organizational, operational, and interpersonal. |
