Summary: | While it may be possible in the future to minimize new environmental problems, the current problems will continue and will only be solved through environmental megaprojects involving many nations. Two of these projects are described and discussed, the Aral Sea Basin initiative and the US Canada cleanup of the Great Lakes St. Lawrence River Basin. The establishment, funding, and handling of these projects are examined as they relate to the need for a fundamental restructuring of economic and environmental activities. |
