Summary: | To validate the RMCRI multistage treadmill protocol for cancer survivors. Fifteen cancer survivors completed a randomized double validation study to compare oxygen consumption (VO sub(2peak)) between two protocols. The RMCRI treadmill protocol, using gas analysis to determine VO sub(2peak), was validated against the Bruce protocol. Participants completed the randomized trials one week apart in random order. The Bruce protocol VO sub(2peak) was then compared with the VO[[Unsupported Character - Codename -]] sub(2peak) recorded from the gas analysis for the RMCRI treadmill protocol. No significant differences (p=.98) in VO sub(2peak) were found between the RMCRI protocol and the Bruce protocol and these values were significantly correlated with the RMCRI gas analysis test (R super(2)=.712, p=.003). The VO sub(2peak) achieved using RMCRI gas analysis compared to ACSM's predicted VO sub(2peak) equations showed no significant difference (p=.72). The VO sub(2peak) values obtained with ACSM's predicted VO sub(2peak) equations were significantly correlated with the VO sub(2peak) values from the RMCRI protocol gas analysis (R super(2)=.830, p |
