Dissociative Recombination of Small Polyatomic Molecules

Simplified analytical expressions for dissociative recombination driven by the Jahn-Teller and Renner-Teller interactions are discussed. These expressions allow straightforward predictions of isotope effects, and the results are discussed for both H3+ and HCO+ and their isotopomers. Although the pre...

Description
Summary:Simplified analytical expressions for dissociative recombination driven by the Jahn-Teller and Renner-Teller interactions are discussed. These expressions allow straightforward predictions of isotope effects, and the results are discussed for both H3+ and HCO+ and their isotopomers. Although the predicted effects are generally in good agreement with experiment, discrepancies indicate areas worthy of more extensive investigation. Some general features of isotope effects in the dissociative recombination of other systems are also discussed.
