Description
Summary:This is a review article of Maurice Dobb, Political Economist, by Timothy Shenk. I begin by summarising the book and commenting on its many virtues and occasional weaknesses. I then consider Shenk's account of Dobb's achievements as an economic historian of capitalism, as an analyst and economic historian of the first six decades of the Soviet Union, and as an economic theorist and an historian of economic thought. I conclude by assessing Shenk's own conclusions about Dobb.
