Summary: | We read with interest a recent retrospective study in Tumor Biology that reported that disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival in patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after surgery was significantly better when they received adjuvant transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and nucleos(t)ide analog (NA) therapy than when they received only TACE [1]. While we applaud the authors efforts to clarify the most effective HCC treatments, we feel their conclusions should be interpreted with caution, given that several characteristics of their study population may make it less representative of clinical reality. |
