Summary:The subject of urban wet-weather flows (WWFs) comprises three basic subareas: combined-sewer overflows (CSOs), sanitary-sewer overflows (SSOs), and stormwater discharges. Based on the past 30 years of research on urban WWF water quality-, impact-, modeling-, control-, and treatment-demonstrated results, Field et al. (1997a) delineated a framework of future research directions for risk management of urban WWF.
