Summary:Wha t, th e n, could an authentic human response, and an authentic form of presence, possibly be to those whose inconsolable distress screams itself out in the cry, "It's the leaving!"? any answer to this question, if there could ever be one, would have to plumb the wells of emptiness out of which that outcry arises. I shall here make my attempt to initiate the palliatively more demanding task of unearthing the strata of emptiness underlying "It's the leaving!"
