Summary: | The presence of Jovian electrons at the Earth orbit allows considering them as test particles probing of the structure of the inner heliosphere. The penetration of Jovian electrons into the inner heliosphere during periods of optimal magnetic connection between Jupiter and Earth is trivial phenomenon, while a special magnetic configuration is necessary for periods when such a connection is absent. The possibility of the formation of long-living CIR-like magnetic traps filled by low-energy electrons (~ 1 MeV) during their passage by Jupiter and their subsequent arrival at the Earth is considered. According to the SOHO > 0.25 MeV Jovian electron data during solar activity minimum in 2007–2008 the structure of the solar wind and its steady-state allowed the formation of such traps, existing for about a year (14 solar rotations). |
