Basic mechanisms of longevity: A case study of Drosophila pro-longevity genes
Highlights • We review Drosophila genes which exercise prolongevity functions. • Overexpression of certain metabolic and stress-response genes extends fly lifespan. • Longevity genes belong to IGF-1R, PI3K, PKB, AMPK, TOR, FOXO, HDAC, p53 pathways.
