Summary: | A new daucane-type sesquiterpene alcohol, trans-dauc-8-en-4 beta -ol, has been isolated and characterized from carrot seed oil (Daucus carota L.). The structure and stereochemistry of this compound have been established by spectroscopic and chemical methods. Five known sesquiterpene compounds, trans-dauca-8,11-diene, dauca-5,8-diene, acora-4,9-diene, acora-4,10-diene, (E)- beta -10,11-dihydro-10, 11-epoxyfarnesene and (E)-methylisoeugenol, were also identified as new reported constituents in carrot seed oil on the basis of their super(13)C-NMR spectral data. |
