Cytotoxic sesquiterpenoids from Sarcandra glabra
Five new sesquiterpenoid dimers, sarcandrolides F−J (1−5), three new sesquiterpenoid monomers (6−8), and 14 known sesquiterpenoids, were isolated from the whole plants of Sarcandra glabra. The absolute configurations of compounds 1−5 were established by the CD exciton chirality method. Compound 1 re...

Summary: | Five new sesquiterpenoid dimers, sarcandrolides F−J (1−5), three new sesquiterpenoid monomers (6−8), and 14 known sesquiterpenoids, were isolated from the whole plants of Sarcandra glabra. The absolute configurations of compounds 1−5 were established by the CD exciton chirality method. Compound 1 represents the first example of a lindenane-type sesquiterpenoid dimer bearing a hydroperoxy group at C-5. Compounds 1 and 3 exhibited cytotoxicity against the HL-60 cell line with IC50 values of 0.03 and 1.2 μM, respectively.
