Summary: | In Wallace and colleagues' study, the selection criteria and the definition of premature ovarian insufficiency were applied identically to prepubertal and post-pubertal patients. Because of the different sensitivity of gonads to toxic treatment at different ages,7 and the report of spontaneous recovery of hormonal function after premature menopause as a result of treatment,8 the definition of high-risk for premature ovarian insufficiency and of premature ovarian insufficiency itself, as well as the modalities of follow-up, should be key points of discussion in a process of harmonisation. |
