A successful application of thinner-THGEMs

The performance of thinner-THGEMs (Thick Gaseous Electron Multipliers) with 0.2 mm thickness, 0.2 mm hole diameter, 0.7 mm pitch and a narrow (5 ~ 20 mu m ) rim has been studied. In general, the prototype has a gain of 1 x 10 super(3~4) with one single thinner-THGEM in Ar/iC sub(4)H sub(10) (97 : 3)...

Description
Summary:The performance of thinner-THGEMs (Thick Gaseous Electron Multipliers) with 0.2 mm thickness, 0.2 mm hole diameter, 0.7 mm pitch and a narrow (5 ~ 20 mu m ) rim has been studied. In general, the prototype has a gain of 1 x 10 super(3~4) with one single thinner-THGEM in Ar/iC sub(4)H sub(10) (97 : 3) and works stably at high rates. A curved parallax-free gas detector based on thinner-THGEM has been developed for diffraction studies, and has been tested at the Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF). The result shows an angular resolution of 0.148 degree can be achieved with direct current data acquisition mode.
