Summary:In this paper, the comparison between the optimized total harmonic distortions OTHD PWM and the traditional multi-carriers PWM is studied to generate high quality output spectrum in five level inverter. For the OTHPWM, the switching angles are computed by solving a non-linear equation using the differential evolution method. The five level inverter feed a three-phase induction motor (IM). This association allows evaluating the algorithm performances on the bases the THD of both output voltage and IM current waveform, Torque motor ripples.
