Description
Summary:A device that simultaneously measures the dimensional changes of artificial graphite due to thermal expansion by two methods, contact and non-contact, has been developed. The contact method uses high-density isotropic graphite as a reference material, measurement jigs and a heater in electric furnace. The latter used a laser micro-gauge. An accurate measurement of the linear thermal expansion and the coefficient of thermal expansion at temperatures as high as 2400°C could be made by the device using these two complementary methods.
