Summary: | A brief holiday visit to Ireland in September 2013 allowed one of us (CAMR) to collect beetles at a few localities in Cos Down and Antrim. Through the kindness of Shane Wolsey, Bangor, 4 hours were spent on Lighthouse Island (also known as Cross Island or John's Island), second largest of the Copeland Islands, lying approximately 8 km off the coast of Down, at 54[degrees]41N 5[degrees]31W. This island is managed as a nature reserve for birds (supported by the British Trust for Ornithology), but is known to have an interesting flora and insect fauna, as published in Copeland Bird Observatory annual reports. |
