Highlights • AA clearly exerts hyperventilation effect. • AA increases pO2 and decreases pCO2. • The blockade of cyclooxygenase enzymes activity greatly abolishes the respiratory effects of AA • The inhibition of thromboxane synthesis substantially attenuates AA evoked respiratory responses.
