Description
Summary:Based on morphological and genetic comparisons, an established population of the African termite, Coptotermes sjostedti Holmgren, was identified on the island of Guadeloupe. This is the sixth recorded species of an endemic Old World termite becoming established in the New World. We hypothesize that this species arrived from tropical West Africa by maritime transport.
