Description
Summary:Samples of water, sediments, fishes, aquatic macrophytes, and zooplankton from Wintergreen lake, Mich., were analysed. Mercury was found only in the fishes and sediments; thallium occurred only in the sediments; and cadmium and lead were detected in all the samples. The sediments acted as a sink for all four metals. The faeces of migratory geese using the lake also contained both cadmium and lead, and this appeared to be the major source of input to the lake.
