Summary: | The success of AHOPCA in sharing its treatment guidelines for Hodgin's lymphoma with the rest of Latin America, and thereby ensuring that the better treatment reaches more children, proves that transnational collaborations are desired and possible. Because data on the actual incidence of and outcome of childhood cancer in Latin America, which could help direct local programs and public health policies, are still lacking, motivated representatives from various Latin American countries collaborated in 2015 to create the Consorcio Latinoamericano de Enfermedades Hemato-oncológicas Pediátricas (CLEHOP), which currently comprises 12 of the largest paediatric oncology centres in six countries (Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, and Peru) and has plans for including more centres in the future. |
